Medical Billing and Coding Salary

Let’s face it: it is very hard to find a well paying career these days. Thanks to the internet and social media, a lot of people have now been brainwashed into thinking that there are no more jobs out there that can provide you with a very good salary as well as allow for the opportunity to grow. Various social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Twitter and the newly launched Google Plus, are making it seem like activities are for short-term purposes only, and this in turn are training this generation to be a bunch of prima donnas and demand “instant gratification” wherever they go. For those of you unaffected by various social media networks out there, then maybe a career in medical billing and medical coding may be perfect for you. The medical billing and coding salary, upon last check, is still averaging from USD $20,000 up to USD $50,000 per annum. While the level of salary for medical assistant programs might not be enough to appeal to local Americans, non-US locals who are considering a career in the USA or who are looking for a solid entry point into the shores of the land of opportunity are enticed by it. However, for Americans looking for a career in medicine, medical assisting programs and medical billing and coding jobs are the perfect place for them to start, mainly because this is the basic training ground for medical students who are serious about a career in the medical profession and would like to learn and earn as they go along.

$20,000 – $50,000

Yes, the career of a medical professional is a long and winding road, with a lot of schooling and education needed to be able to build the necessary experience and training needed to finally become a medical professional. It is also true that the best way for an individual to kick-start his or her career as a medical student is to become immersed in the environment of medical professionals, so starting a career in the medical billing and medical coding is actually the best place to begin. But before you go and enroll in all the various medical assistant schools, medical billing classes and billing and coding classes, it is very important to note that while proper training and education is indeed needed, further education will still be required in the long run. Why waste your time in all those various classes when you can go straight in enrolling in a medical school or in a nursing school to be able to properly start your formal education? Being a specialist in one thing may be a good starting point, but fact of the matter is the medical profession is one of those professions and careers that have continuous and endless education and learning as a requirement. So instead of trying to learn about something that you will eventually learn at the bottom of the medical employment ring, you should just concentrate on becoming a nurse as a starting point and then learn about medical billing and coding on the job itself.

For the most part, individuals do not have equal opportunities in life and some do start a little lower in the financial chain than others, so medical billing and coding classes might be their best choice as of the moment. It is a good thing the medical billing and coding salary can be enough to support a living, otherwise their medical careers will have ended before it even started in the first place.

As a final note, immigrants wanting to use physician medical billing and coding as a career should also never underestimate themselves as pointed in the example above. While medical assistant programs might not be supported in their country of origin, once they plant their ground on American soil these various programs and internships are fairly well supported. Increasing the medical billing and coding salary of an individual will be a piece of cake for professionals with the necessary experience and formal education of a trained medical professional, and not just specializing on a specific task such as medical coding and medical billing. So the next time you consider a career, always remember that while you start at the bottom, you eventually land on the top if you started your education and training right.

My name is Willetta and I am in school to be a Medical billing and coding specialist. I am currently enrolled in an online course that only takes about four to five hours of study a day five days a week for me. The course is 11 months long and very fun and flexible to my schedule. If you want to be a biller and coder it takes a lot of know how and practice. So if you want to take a course know that you have a lot to learn unless you are already in the medical field.
